More about Our
Agency
ACS 's current operating budget for 2007
(01/01/07-12/31/07) is $499,995; which includes in-kind
funding from the Corporation for National and Community
Service through the Arab Community for Economic and social
services(ACCESS) in Michigan. The seven AmeriCorps Volunteers
Grant is about $175,000. The agency relocated six times from
its original location to add more office space and services to
meet the needs of its community.
Other sponsored ventures include the first
Arab American and American Muslim Summit in the City of
Anaheim and was co-sponsored by City Councilman Richard
Chavez.
Another full-day event we hosted, was entitled
"Building Bridges with the Arab and Muslim Community". The
event included 170 invitees; consisting of law enforcement
officers, educators, and other public service providers. The
idea behind the event was to clear any misconceptions and
create an understanding of the needs of the Arab and Muslim
Communities.
ACS is the only agency in Southern California
that offers comprehensive and multi-faceted services to Arab
and Muslim Americans. We are strategically located in Anaheim
, central to the immigrant and refugee communities which we
serve.
A recent analysis of our 2006 database reports
showed that we offered more than 6,000 units of services to
our clients.
Another analysis of our clientele from 2006,
showed the following breakdown: Of the 2, 761 unduplicated
clients that we served, 80% were Muslims, 57% were Arab
Americans, 14% were Hispanics, 15% were Pakistanis, 3.5% were
African Americans, and 10.5% were Others (i.e. Asians and
Pacific Islanders, and Caucasian Americans, etc) of which 61%
were women. Approximately 50% of the clients we served were
between the ages of 20-39 years; 30% were of ages 40-59, with
the rest of the 20% including children and senior citizens.
Using the 2006 HUD Income Criteria; 29% of the clients we
served were in the extremely low-income range, earning under
$17,050 annually; 38% fell in the low-income category,
grossing between $17,050 and $28,401 per year; 15% were in low
to moderate income brackets, earning any where between $28,401
to $45,450 per year; and lastly, 18% of the populations we

therefore, the data provided on income may be skewed. Of the
populations that we served in Southern California in 2006, 64%
resided in Orange County , 23% in Los Angeles , and 13% in
other surrounding counties.
