Chair | Marwa Azab, Ph.D.
Professor of Psychology & Human Development, California State University, Long Beach
Dr. Marwa Azab has a Masters of Counseling Psychology and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience. She has taught in psychology, human development, and biology departments. She currently teaches at California State University, Long Beach and writes for Psychology Today. Dr. Azab is a four-time TEDx presenter and public speaker and has lectured all over the United States, Canada and Singapore. She is writing a book on mental health, spirituality and Islam.
Keynote | Aneesah Nadir, M.S.W, Ph.D.
Family Life Educator, Diversity Trainer; President, Islamic Social Services Association-USA
Dr. Aneesah Nadir has been a dedicated social worker for almost 40 years and is the co-founder and president of the Islamic Social Services Association-USA. After 17 years, she retired from teaching social work at Arizona State University. Today, Dr. Nadir is a dedicated advocate in the struggle for healthy marriages and families, as well as for social justice and affordable legal services.
Keynote | Sh. Yassir Fazaga
Former Director of Mental Health Services, Access California Services
Sheikh Yassir has a Bachelors Degree in Islamic Studies from the Imam Saud University Institute of Islamic and Arabic Sciences in Virginia. He has finished work for his Masters in Psychotherapy at California State University, Long Beach. Sh. Yassir is an inspiring and sought-after speaker who speaks on Islam and related topics for conferences, churches, high schools, colleges, and universities.

Peace of Mind Poetry/Spoken Word Contest
AccessCal invites you to write a poem or spoken word piece about “happiness.” Your poem or spoken word piece can be about your own happiness, a special moment of happiness, your family's happiness, or anything else you relate to the word "happiness."
The winner will receive a $100 gift card!
The winner will be announced on our website and over social media channels on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.
- Maximum 500 words.
- You must be able to register and attend Peace of Mind: A Family Wellness Event on April 29, 2018.
- Winner must perform the poem or spoken word piece at the event.
- No age limit for entries

*Cancellation Policy: You will be required to provide credit card details when registering for this event, however your credit card WILL NOT be charged any cost if you attend. You must cancel your registration by 5:00 pm PST, Wednesday, April 25, 2018, if you do not wish to or can no longer attend; otherwise a no-show^ fee of $30 will be charged per attendee (aged 13 or older) to your credit card. An email will be sent the week of April 30, 2018, stating you will charged the no-show fee.
We apologize for the inconvenience. As we have limited seats available, registering with your credit card guarantees your seat(s). AccessCal and the Board have tried to make this event available to the community at no cost; including a no-show fee allows us to ensure the cost of your food, child care if you’ve selected it, and other event costs are covered if you do not attend and do not cancel in advance. This enables us to continue hosting free events for the community. We thank you for your understanding.
You may easily cancel your registration by emailing Farrha Khan via email@example.com. Please provide all the names of the attendees cancelling their registration, as well as your contact details for confirmation. Please also let us know if you've registered for child care and would like it to be cancelled as well, however NO fees will be charged for child care no-shows. A confirmation email of your cancellation will be sent to you for your record within 72 hours.
^For the purposes of this event, "no-show" is defined as a registered person who does not attend the Peace of Mind: A Family Wellness Event on Sunday, April 29, 2018, AND does not cancel the registration by 5:00 pm PST, Wednesday, April 25, 2018.
