  • Annual Gala, Triumph over Hardship
PIONEER BUSINESSMAN AND CANDIDATE FOR TEXAS GOVERNORSHIP TO DELIVER KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT TRIUMPH OVER HARDSHIP GALA [ANAHEIM, January 30]:
Southern California-based family resource center Access California Services will attract an expected 800 people to see Farouk Shami, Rahim Al Haj, Mr. Shabbir Mansuri, Los Angeles Sheriff Leroy Baca and Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens set the tone for the Arab-American and Muslim communities in 2010.

The stage is set to host the ever inspiring man, Mr. Farouk Shami, who employs thousands of Americans and now seeks a bid for the Governor's seat in Texas. Mr. Shami, founder of Farouk Systems and the famed Cationic Hydration Interlink (CHI), has been confirmed as the Keynote Speaker for Access California Services' annual gala.
The Triumph over Hardship Gala, which will be held on Saturday, January 30th, will showcase the great success that Access-Cal had in 2009, a year dubbed by many as the worst since the great depression

Mr. Shami is a visionary man; He immigrated from Palestine to the United States with a dream and $71 in his pocket. He eventually built a successful business, worth billions, which recently announced the opening of a new plant in Houston that employed 5,000 individuals. Additionally, he is running for Governor of Texas. While Shami has a history of philanthropy in the US and helping victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Ike, he also has a history of actively pushing for Palestinian rights. He built a girls school and a company factory for Palestinians.
Amidst his gubernatorial campaign Mr. Shami agreed to convey a message of encouragement and hope to the gala attendees. He need not look far to point at a successful individual who persevered through hardship. He subsequently went on to build an empire for himself and the surrounding communities; a perfect example of the American dream.

Mr. Shabbir Mansuri, Founder of and CEO of the Institute on Religion and Civic Values, will be receiving the Service Award for his efforts to improve coverage of world history and world religions in the American educational system.

Two-time Grammy Award nominee, Mr. Rahim Al Haj, will perform on the virtuoso Oud. LA and OC Sheriffs Leroy Baca and Sandra Hutchens will receive a Certificate of Appreciation for the great work they do to protect our communities.
