Access California Services (AccessCal) believes in the importance of empowering underserved youth, including refugee youth, succeed in the United States of America. These youngsters struggle with isolation, stress, as well as experience academic and professional challenges. On assessing the needs of the youth, it was evident there was a requirement for services to bridge the academic, professional and personal wellness gap. AccessCal initiated the Leaders of Tomorrow – Youth Mentoring Program to help the future generation of America thrive in our rapidly changing environment.
AccessCal offers youth with academic and professional mentoring and guidance, college and job application assistance, SAT test prep, mental health counseling and much more. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, AccessCal hosted a number of in-person activities to bring youth together to connect, learn and get inspired. These include fieldtrips, workshops from visiting community organizations, cultural spotlight events, and thought-provoking discussions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, AccessCal turned it’s in-person engagements to virtual ones leveraging community leaders and educators to inspire youth to achieve leadership, develop skills, and proudly represent the duality of being a minority in America.
